High Heat Is Preferentially Killing the Young, Not the Old, New Research Finds
Briefly

The research indicates that contrary to popular belief, 75% of heat-related deaths occur in individuals younger than 35, highlighting a significant risk among young adults.
'We project that as the climate warms, heat-related deaths are going to go up, and the young will suffer the most,' said R. Daniel Bressler, co-lead author.
The study reveals that from 1998 to 2019, nearly one-third of heat-related deaths in Mexico occurred in those aged 18 to 35, contradicting common assumptions.
'It's a surprise. These are physiologically the most robust people in the population,' said study coauthor Jeffrey Shrader, questioning why young adults are so vulnerable.
