NASA discovers an invisible electric field surrounding Earth
Briefly

Researchers have hypothesised that the particles could be pulled out of the atmosphere by a planet-wide electrical charge somewhere around 150 miles above the surface, where atoms start to break apart into charged particles.
Lead author Dr Glyn Collinson points out that something essential must be drawing these particles out of the atmosphere, forever changing our understanding of Earth's atmospheric dynamics and the role of electrical fields.
