Scientists from Tufts University have successfully grown human-like teeth from human and pig cells in pigs, indicating potential for human applications within 20 years. Although the teeth produced so far are not yet perfect, they closely resemble real teeth and could replace traditional dentures or implants, offering better fit and feel. Professor Pamela Yelick expresses confidence in the possibility of regenerating human teeth, citing advances in various fields. Her research, published in Stem Cells Translational Medicine, demonstrates that teeth can regrow in under four months after implantation.
I 100 per cent think regenerating human teeth can happen... There are so many advances happening in technology, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and dentistry, and they all feed off each other.
While the teeth are 'not perfect' in shape or size, the end product does closely resemble a natural tooth... I hope that advancements in the field will accelerate the ability to create new teeth.
