After Wellesley College's non-tenure-track faculty went on strike, students were informed they might only receive half credit for those courses. This decision stemmed from federal instructional hour regulations. While some classes remained unaffected, around 30 students faced risks to their full-time status, crucial for financial aid. Students were given options to enroll in tenure-track classes for the remainder of the semester. However, concerns arose over the feasibility of finding replacement courses that matched their schedules and prerequisites, fueling discontent among students and faculty union members advocating for contract negotiations.
It’s such a weird plan that could all be avoided if the college just bargained with us and settled the contract.
Students may struggle to find replacement courses that fit their schedule or that they have the necessary prerequisites for.
