Big Bear eaglets Sunny and Gizmo get ready to test their wings

Fans of the Big Bear bald eagle family have watched eagerly as parents Jackie and Shadow finally welcomed eaglets Sunny and Gizmo. Now, at about 10 weeks old, the eaglets are preparing to take their first flight, expected between 10-14 weeks of age. Amid a growing nest, they engage in 'wing-ercizing' to strengthen their muscles and balance. Even after fledging, Jackie and Shadow will remain attentive, teaching their young how to survive.
Time flies - and, any day now, so will Sunny and Gizmo. The birds are expected to fledge, or fly for the first time, between 10 and 14 weeks of age.
They have been 'wing-ercizing' for weeks now, according to Steers. Stretching and flapping their wings in the nest builds up muscle and hones balance....
