The author reflects on moving from rural Australia to the UK 18 years ago, pursuing dreams of travel and adventure. Settling in London, she unexpectedly found love and built a life with her husband, raising two kids. While she cherishes her life and achievements, she grapples with the emotional cost of being distant from her aging parents in Australia. Despite fulfilling many life goals, including extensive travel and a successful career, the longing to support her family grows increasingly painful over time.

The distance helped me fulfill my dreams. In the last two decades, I've ticked off many of my life goals, mainly thanks to my big move.
