The Centre Pompidou has established a five-year partnership with Brazil to create its inaugural South American outpost, set to debut in November 2027 near the UNESCO-listed Iguaçu Falls. The project, initiated in 2020, will include a 10,000 sq. m. museum designed by award-winning architect Solano Benitez, with an estimated budget of $36 million. The museum will focus on cultural exchanges among Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, hosting exhibitions, performances, and festivals. This initiative aligns with France's cultural exchanges in Brazil and aims to boost tourism to the region.
The Centre Pompidou aims to expand its global presence through strategic partnerships, as seen with its new five-year agreement to open a South American outpost.
Marc Pottier highlighted that the partnership with Brazil is set to potentially double the current annual tourist figure from two million at the Iguaçu site.
