With the help of conservators, one of Van Gogh's finest Arles landscapes will be heading to Japan

The Kröller-Müller Museum recently examined Vincent Van Gogh's 'Bridge at Arles' to confirm its readiness for a 2027 exhibition in Japan. Created in March 1888, this landscape painting reflects Van Gogh's early works in Provence, depicting a wooden drawbridge reminiscent of his Dutch roots and washerwomen by the canal. Notably skilled in color use, Van Gogh utilized contrasting tones. Originally intended as a personal gift to gallery owner Hermanus Tersteeg, the work bears a special dedication that has since been altered.
