Over 100 cats rescued from California Taco Bell parking lot
Briefly

Over 100 cats were seized from a U-Haul van in a Taco Bell parking lot in Merced County. A deputy responded to a welfare check and found 106 severely emaciated cats and 28 dead felines inside. The cats ranged from 1 week to 8 years old and had no food or water in the van, with outside temperatures reaching 99 degrees. The owner was arrested on 93 counts of animal cruelty. The rescued cats were taken to a shelter for treatment and are to be held for 14 days before adoption.
The deputy estimated there were at least 20 cats in distress in the van, but when county animal control officers arrived, they found 106 "extremely emaciated" cats inside.
Animals are our friends. So it's hard to see somebody do that to an animal, said Deputy Alexandra Britton.
