"Under 60 Tons features over 90 tritone images that Dennison took while working as a crew member aboard small, versatile tugboats, which are classified as "under 60 gross tons." Under 60 Tons is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, British Columbia Arts Council, and private donors."
Reave Dennison, a photographer and printmaker, presents "Tree Work," an exhibition of 29 silver gelatin prints documenting maritime and forestry labour in British Columbia. Created over five years while Dennison worked as a log salvor and arborist, the images capture the environments, people, culture, and technical craft of Pacific Northwest labour. Simultaneously, Pale Fire releases Dennison's first photography book, "Under 60 Tons," co-designed with Information Office. The book contains over 90 tritone images taken during Dennison's work aboard small tugboats classified as under 60 gross tons. The exhibition runs at Pale Fire gallery from March 19 through May 9, supported by multiple arts councils and private donors.
