London-based photographer Marco Marinucci reflects on his roots and identity through his ongoing meditation on home and belonging. Originally from Pescara, Italy, his work captures the essence of San Giovanni Teatino, where he navigates life between two worlds after emigrating to London. His photographs poignantly convey the love, values, and traditions passed down through generations, becoming threads that connect him to his family and heritage. Marinucci emphasizes that his distance from home has deepened his understanding of belonging and the need to document his experiences.
I feel an overwhelming urge to capture and carry with me the essence of home, both spiritually and physically, through my photography.
These images are an attempt to carry with me the love, values, and traditions that have been passed down through generations.
Each photograph is a thread linking me back to my family, allowing me to hold on to the sense of belonging that has always been fundamental to my life.
It is only thanks to this distance that I understood this need to photograph whenever I go back.
