Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg criticized current Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy after Duffy and Rachel Campos-Duffy announced a reality show based on a seven-month road trip across the country. Buttigieg referenced how conservative media had attacked him for taking paternity leave while still working to care for newborn children in the NICU. Buttigieg chose not to revisit that past and instead said the Duffys’ timing was especially poor. He called their announcement “brutally out of touch,” arguing that rising gas prices make road trips unaffordable for regular families. He also shared a clip about rising gas prices from CNN.
