The article expresses deep frustration over police accountability, particularly regarding officers who have used excessive force against journalists and legal observers during protests. The author highlights a systemic issue within law enforcement where officers are perceived as bullies, particularly when in uniform. They emphasize a lack of accountability, suggesting that officers often act without repercussions, treating citizens as adversaries. The ongoing violence and the financial burden on the city due to police misconduct are noted, leading to skepticism about the potential for reform in the police system.
How the fuck is any officer who beat and pepper sprayed journalists and legal observers not in prison much less still on the force. Five years on these violent criminals should just now be getting released into parole and halfway houses.
Cops are bullies. All of them. They may, I stress may, be reasonable people IRL but when the uniform goes on they are thugs to a man. (I think this less likely with female officers).
They fight accountability at every step. They seemingly answer to no one. They see citizens as the enemy.
Five years later we're still dealing with violence committed against BLM protesters. In another five years there will be a new event with the City paying two million dollars of our money to victims of the criminality of PPB.
