Portland Panorama marks the return of dedicated film festivals to Portland after the cancellation of both the Portland International Film Festival and the Northwest Filmmakers Festival due to the pandemic. Co-directed by industry veterans Stephanie Hough and Melina Kiyomi Coumas, the festival aims not only to honor these past events but to innovate and expand upon them by focusing on diverse voices in cinema. Set to run from April 10-20, it promises a rich array of films and related arts initiatives, reflecting a community-centered approach to the festival experience.
"We're picking up that mantle that PIFF left behind, but we're also trying to bring a fresh perspective, focusing more on the diverse voices in filmmaking that haven't been represented enough."
"Hough's film, a documentary called Celebration portraying her family's farm near St. Paul, was the last work screened before the rest of PIFF was cancelled."
