The UK has introduced the ETA, an electronic visa for short visits, which will expand to include EU and EEA citizens in spring 2025.
The ETA, which costs £10 and lasts for two years, must be applied for online before traveling, with existing rules for short stays remaining the same.
Application for the ETA depends on the nationality of the passport one holds, not residency status, thus affecting travel for dual nationals accordingly.
The new ETA does not alter current immigration or long-stay visa rules, allowing EU citizens married to Brits to still utilize their existing visa-free travel rights.
