David Quinn: If Tony Holohan runs for the Aras, let's have that Covid debate we have been avoiding
Briefly

Tony Holohan, the former chief medical officer, demonstrated excellent leadership skills during the pandemic, noted by both public admiration and personal interactions. Praise came from a taxi driver who had driven Holohan during his official duties, emphasizing his superb leadership abilities. Observers, including those attending press conferences by Nphet, recognized Holohan’s effective communication skills and confidence, even when faced with challenging questions regarding Covid outbreaks in nursing homes. Despite the leadership demonstrated, Holohan’s presidency may evoke reminders of past struggles with the pandemic.
At one point during the pandemic, I was in a taxi and the conversation with the driver turned to the man of the hour, Tony Holohan. There were only so many taxi drivers on the roads at the time, and this one said he had driven Holohan around on his official duties a few times. He had nothing but praise for him.
He thought he had shown superb leadership and that he would make a great president. I agreed that he had shown excellent leadership qualities. In fact, I attended quite a few of the Nphet press conferences in the early months of the pandemic and I always thought Holohan came over very well.
