A sniffer dog named Skye found illegal cigarettes, vapes, and unlicensed Viagra during an enforcement operation in Whitechapel. Working with trading standards officers, Skye detected a suspicious odor from a locked box, leading to a significant discovery of 233 packets of illicit cigarettes, 24 illegal vapes, and 80 unlicensed Viagra tablets. This operation was part of a broader crackdown by Tower Hamlets Council aimed at targeting counterfeit and unsafe products, resulting in the seizure of over 5,800 illicit cigarettes and nearly 420 illegal vapes, contributing to public safety and regulatory compliance.
"Counterfeit cigarettes, unregulated vapes, and unlicensed medicines can be really dangerous and have no place on our high streets. We take a proactive approach to smoke out illegal trading in Tower Hamlets."
The discovery was part of a wider two-day crackdown by Tower Hamlets Council targeting counterfeit and unsafe goods. The operation led to the seizure of 5,840 illicit cigarettes and 418 illegal vapes.
