AWS revamps Amplify IAM roles for more secure access
Briefly

AWS has introduced new Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles for its Amplify hosting service, specifically aimed at enhancing security for server-side rendering (SSR) applications. These compute roles allow detailed control over AWS services access and manage temporary login credentials similarly to long-term ones. By leveraging AWS Secrets Manager and Parameter Store, SSR applications can safely access sensitive data at runtime. This functionality establishes direct connections to various AWS databases and enables secure service calls from server-side code, enriching the capabilities of applications hosted on the Amplify platform which integrates seamlessly with other AWS services.
The new IAM server roles, or compute roles, provide SSR applications with secure access to AWS services, managing temporary credentials like long-term ones.
Compute roles enable SSR apps to access sensitive configuration data at runtime using AWS Secrets Manager and Systems Manager Parameter Store.
