Personal stories, including that of David Herron, whose mother unwittingly signed documents for a reverse mortgage instead of home renovations, underscore the urgency of this legislation. Mark Diamond, a convicted fraudster, was sentenced to 17 years in prison, with victims hoping the new law will prevent future schemes.
"Buying a home is part of the American dream," Judge Franklin Valderrama reportedly said to Diamond. "You, Mr. Diamond, turned that dream into a nightmare."
Mark Diamond took predator to another level for me, Hood said during the sentencing. I don't believe he has any remorse.
