More Irish homes bought by 'non-household entities' last year than in 2023

In 2024, non-household entities, which include private companies and State bodies, purchased 12,696 dwellings, representing 4% of total sales. The total value of these properties reached €5bn, an 18.5% increase from the previous year. Government agencies, notably the Land Development Agency, accounted for €2.6bn of the homes purchased, with a significant increase from 2023. The financial and insurance sector was the second largest buyer, totaling €746m in transactions. Just 5% of purchases were made by entities registered outside Ireland, while 56.4% of all purchases were new dwellings.
