Five years ago, a decision was made to celebrate Christmas in July, initially to uplift spirits during the pandemic. This celebration included a miniature version of typical holiday activities, with a small tree and stockings. Creating holiday-shaped cookies and reading a Christmas classic added to the festive mood. This tradition not only brightened the child's spirits but also provided a comforting connection for both. The morning after included present opening and coffee, reinforcing the simple yet profound joy of togetherness outside the traditional December celebration.
Acting like it was Christmas Eve allowed us to enjoy the familiar traditions we look forward to in December, but in a more relaxed environment.
We set out a quarter of our usual decorations and wrapped a couple of small gifts, making it feel like a taste of the real holiday.
Celebrating Christmas in July brightened our spirits during a tough time, turning it into a new tradition rooted in togetherness.
Instead of the usual winter holiday, we created our own special version of Christmas, allowing us to reconnect and foster joy.
