Why Relationship Partners View Online Alternatives
Briefly

Satisfying relationships require love, respect, and trust. Yet many partners are not committed to faithfully fulfilling these expectations. Instead of avoiding temptation, they seek it.
In their study, Nascimento et al. found that perceived online dating success is linked to a higher perception of alternative partner availability, influencing attention to relational alternatives.
Interestingly, the researchers did not find a direct association between perceived success in dating online and actual infidelity-related behaviors, complicating the notion of online temptation.
The research highlights the complex dynamics of partner perception, suggesting that increased perceived mate value could enhance interest in exploring alternatives to one’s current relationship.
