CalDART prepares for emergency response with simulated disaster training in April
Briefly

CalDART, or California Disaster Airlift Response Teams, is set to conduct a significant simulated emergency response exercise on April 26. This biennial training helps volunteer pilots improve teamwork and skill in delivering critical supplies during disasters, such as wildfires or earthquakes. John Zekanoski, a leading figure at San Martin Airport, emphasizes that most emergency professionals lack experience with integrating aviation into disaster strategies. The exercise aims to familiarize response teams with CalDART's capabilities, ultimately enhancing California's overall disaster readiness.
Most emergency professionals in the state do not have much if any experience in utilizing aviation - they have a lot of tools in their disaster response toolkit, but not much in the way of utilizing pilots, aircraft, and their ground teams to strengthen response effectiveness.
We are giving emergency management professionals a chance to see our organization in operation and be better prepared to utilize us and aviation in general in their next disaster response.
