JP Morgan runs out of desk space after banning working from home
Briefly

JP Morgan is mandating its 22,000 UK employees return to the office five days a week, yet struggles with insufficient desk space for its London workforce. The Canary Wharf headquarters can’t accommodate the 14,000 London staff, prompting a push for more office space, especially as the bank moves to end hybrid working policies established post-Covid. The Glasgow office is prepared for full attendance, but the staff backlash includes a petition urging a reconsideration of the hybrid work approach due to concerns over workplace conditions.
The memo said: "The benefits of working together in person are substantial and irreplaceable, and as we spend more time together, the more advantages we gain."
However, a memo sent to staff last month said it would overhaul its hybrid working policy previously adopted in response to Covid.
