AWS wiped my account of 10 years, says open source dev
Briefly

A developer claims AWS deleted his ten-year-old account, erasing all associated data due to a verification failure linked to a suspected erroneous script test. After receiving a verification request, he engaged with AWS support, but his identification documents were deemed unreadable. Despite the company’s usual policy allowing a 90-day grace period to reinstate accounts, all resources were terminated promptly. The developer's billing issues complicated matters, as he relied on an AWS consultant for payment, who unexpectedly withdrew support, leaving him without funds to maintain the account.
Boudih's account was deleted by AWS after a verification failure, allegedly linked to a botched script test, wiping a decade of data without warning.
Even after providing requested identification and proof of address, AWS deemed the documentation unreadable and proceeded to terminate the account.
AWS has a policy of a 90-day grace period to reopen accounts, but in this case, Boudih found all resources terminated despite his repeated access requests.
The deletion of the account followed the sudden discontinuation of support from an AWS consultant who covered monthly cloud costs, complicating the situation.
