Great Britain's Madeleine 'Maddy' Nutt thrives on endurance challenges, shown by her performance in various UCI Gravel World Series races leading to the World Championships in Belgium.
Nutt emphasized that the world championship course in Belgium favors road Classics riders, noting, '... it actually suits a road Classics rider more than it would suit a gravel racer.' This demonstrates the heightened competition gravel specialists face.
With an entrance in the middle of the start grid for the 138 female competitors, Nutt acknowledged the challenges of the narrow opening, stressing the importance of patience in making moves during the race.
Despite a podium finish in the Migration Gravel Race, Nutt stated her UCI points situation is constrained, as she mentioned, '...I don't have many UCI points, despite winning one of the World Series races.'
Being in the top pack is crucial as the race route twists and narrows, Nutt explained, 'The route opens up a bit through the Brabant forest, with many twists and turns into Leuven for a final circuit of 47km for a full 135km.'
