Meet NY high school runner who could be an Olympian one day
Briefly

Zariel Macchia, a senior at William Floyd High School, stands out as an exceptional high school athlete. With aspirations of competing at the Olympics, the All-American runner has already made national waves, competing for Team USA's under-20 squad and setting multiple Long Island records. Macchia emphasizes the importance of support from family and coaches, stating that running is about personal growth and enjoyment rather than stressing over records. Her coach, John Ryan, believes she has the potential to become an Olympian based on her performance and dedication.
If I had to bet at this point, I would bet that she will be an Olympian one day. I can't put anything past the kid. She goes out and does something amazing and then surpasses it a week later.
I really see races as a chance to push myself in the thought of everybody who is helping me, like my parents, coach and siblings. There really isn't pressure on me. I really just have fun with it.
