UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will hold the second virtual meeting of the 'coalition of the willing' to address ongoing developments in the Russian-Ukrainian war. The coalition, comprising mainly European nations along with Canada, Australia, New Zealand, NATO, and EU officials, aims to apply pressure on Russia for a 30-day ceasefire. The meeting will focus on military support for Ukraine, financial assistance, and the potential for future peacekeeping missions as relations between Kyiv and Washington improve in the context of pressures on Russia.
"If Russia finally comes to the table, then we must be ready to monitor a ceasefire to ensure it is a serious, and enduring peace," Starmer is set to tell leaders, in remarks released by his office ahead of the meeting.
"If they don't, then we need to strain every sinew to ramp up economic pressure on Russia to secure an end to this war," he will say today.
