Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly criticized former President Donald Trump for his comments regarding Ukraine’s role in the ongoing war with Russia. After Trump claimed that the conflict was initiated by Kyiv, Zelenskyy described Trump as being in a "disinformation bubble" and pointed to the harm caused by his statements. Conversely, Russian President Vladimir Putin responded positively to talks facilitated by the US, highlighting a willingness from US negotiators to engage without bias.
"Unfortunately, President Trump, with all due respect for him as the leader of a nation that we respect greatly . . . is living in this disinformation bubble."
"I'm very disappointed, I hear that they're upset about not having a seat [at the talks]," Trump told reporters at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida when asked about the Ukrainian reaction.
"The US negotiators were totally different - they were open to a negotiating process without any biases or judgments about what was done in the past."
