Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to a personal meeting in Turkey as part of ongoing peace discussions. Despite hoping for a ceasefire starting Monday, Russia has dismissed Ukraine's conditions for negotiation. As tensions persist following this exchange, Zelenskyy remains firm on the need for a ceasefire to pave the way for diplomacy, and former U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to accept the invitation for talks, emphasizing the importance of determining the feasibility of a peace deal.
We await a full and lasting ceasefire, starting from tomorrow, to provide the necessary basis for diplomacy. There is no point in prolonging the killings.
At least they will be able to determine whether or not a deal is possible, and if it is not, European leaders, and the U.S., will know where everything stands.
