Local Pride organizations, TransLeeds and TransPrideLeeds, have reassured the community that trans individuals are not being prevented from using public restrooms at the Leeds City bus station. The announcement followed false claims circulating on social media after a Supreme Court ruling appeared to restrict the definition of 'woman'. The groups emphasized that West Yorkshire Police confirmed their supportive stance towards trans rights, maintaining no policy changes regarding bathroom access. They also called for the community to avoid spreading these misleading rumors to prevent unnecessary fear and confusion.
West Yorkshire Police have assured us multiple times since the Supreme Court ruling that there has been no change in their policy towards trans people.
We are in constant contact with [West Yorkshire Police] and we have asked a meeting with BTP. Please don't believe or spread these rumours as they cause needless worry.
