"It's been quite a journey and I don't plan on stopping yet!"
"Every year I challenge myself a little bit more."
Peter Williams is a San Francisco gingerbread artist and interior designer who creates complex edible architectural replicas. He revealed a five-house gingerbread replica of Alamo Square's Painted Ladies at a fundraising event at The Academy in the Castro. The replica includes partial interiors, edible trees, and a vintage Volkswagen bus model. Williams began making gingerbread houses fifteen years ago and has built increasingly complex projects, including a suspended recreation of the International Space Station and an elaborate San Francisco Zoo with animals and a carousel. He drew inspiration from a childhood memory of elaborate gingerbread castles at the Westin St. Francis. The event benefited Lyric, a nonprofit supporting LGBTQ+ youth.
