Defib lived at Walthamstow Ambulance Station, after being rescued by paramedics as a kitten in 2008 and "adored by them ever since". Scunthorpe United player Jonathan Gjoshe "sustained non-life-threatening injuries" when he was slashed across the bicep, the club told the BBC. Anthony Williams, 32, of no fixed abode, has been charged over the incident. Matt Ellis, from the Iron Bru podcast, said they set up the fundraiser to help the player while he recovers from his injuries. It was "absolutely horrendous", Mr Ellis said. Four people were killed and another eight injured after a gunman opened fire and set ablaze a Mormon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan on Sunday. The suspected gunman, Thomas Jacob Sanford, was killed by police at the scene.

Big Bear Lake will have a big weekend with a three-day fundraiser put on by the owner of In-N-Out Burger coinciding with the first two days of Oktoberfest. In-N-Out Burger's Tough Mudder Challenge opens on Friday, Sept. 5 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 7 at the Bear Mountain ski resort. Oktoberfest starts Saturday, Sept. 6 at the nearby Big Bear Convention Center and runs weekends through Nov. 8.
