SF Oasis brings back 'Fresh Prince'- and yes, there's a Carlton dance
Briefly

Oasis has brought back its production of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to celebrate its nostalgic appeal for Gen Xers and Millennials. The show is high-energy, with charismatic performances drawing on iconic characters and beloved '90s references. Directed by Snaxx, the production emphasizes the importance of Black representation in entertainment, especially in contrast to the predominantly white television landscape of the 90s. Snaxx acknowledges the show's historical significance while also addressing how some content may age poorly. Ultimately, the revival underscores the enduring impact these shows have on audiences' connections and memories.
It was important to me to not only introduce a new show that was deeply nostalgic for me, but a show that featured Black performers.
The thing about TV shows is they're so 'of a time,' and sometimes the material (or the actors) age poorly.
We return to these shows because they meant something to us at the time, and when places like Oasis bring them back, it reaffirms our connections to that nostalgia.
The show bursts with energy, from Major Hammy's charismatic Will to Mudd's neurotic Carlton.
