Art galleries are proliferating all over the Tenderloin. Just look at the Art Walk.
Briefly

The Tenderloin Art Walk occurs every first Thursday of the month, featuring 27 galleries and venues that showcase local artists' works. The neighborhood celebrates its artists, fostering community involvement. Artists like Brent Hayden and others create engaging displays in converted studio spaces, highlighting various art styles. The walk is marked by an atmosphere of creativity and camaraderie, with artists discussing their experiences and planning social gatherings post-event. This cultural initiative signifies the Tenderloin's artistic renaissance, enhancing its reputation and promoting local creative expression.
On Aug. 7, as they do every first Thursday of the month, 27 galleries and venues opened their doors across the Tenderloin to welcome visitors into a night celebrating local artists.
Two artists, E Dyer and Nick Maltagliati, raved about the neighborhood's embrace of its artists, which has allowed the community - and the Art Walk - to grow.
"We're in a renaissance in this area," Maltagliati said.
Some were shopping, others were there to support their friends and absorb the work of the artists among them: abstract landscapes, erotic Polaroids, rugs tufted in the shape of men's underwear.
