Dead & Company performed in San Francisco for a special birthday celebration honoring Jerry Garcia during their three-night Grateful Dead 60th anniversary residency. The atmosphere was vibrant, with RVs adorned in Dead murals and numerous vendor booths selling themed merchandise. The event attracted a diverse, cross-generational crowd, creating a nostalgic ambiance reminiscent of past concerts. Approximately 60,000 attendees enjoyed a well-organized festival with efficient food, drink, and bathroom services, ensuring a memorable experience for fans of all ages.
The first night of a three-night Grateful Dead 60th anniversary residency took over the Polo Fields of Golden Gate Park, on what would have been Jerry Garcia's 83rd birthday.
The walk up to the park was an event unto itself. RVs decked out in Dead murals lined the Panhandle, and nearly 100 vendor booths lined JFK Boulevard.
The park felt like it had been blasted backward in time, welcoming a cross-generational crowd with plenty of younger listeners amid the consistent Deadhead uniform.
Despite the expected 60,000 fans convening on just one stage, the festival infrastructure held strong, with orderly lines for food and bathrooms.
