Bottom of the Hill opened in 1991 at 17th and Missouri streets in Potrero Hill and will close at the end of 2026, with a final show on New Year's Eve. The venue operated for 35 years and remained one of the few Bay Area clubs not booked by a major concert promoter. The club hosted early-career gigs by Green Day, Oasis, Alanis Morissette, The Strokes and many others who later headlined arenas and festivals. The space also served the community with benefits, school recitals, weddings, birthdays and memorials. Owners announced a final curated year of farewell shows inviting past bands to return.
