Stanley Zhong, a talented teen with a 4.42 GPA and 1590 SAT, was rejected by 16 colleges but hired by Google. His experiences, including founding a startup and tutoring underserved children, highlighted flaws in the college admissions process, particularly regarding racial discrimination. In a recent lawsuit against the University of California, Zhong and his father allege illegal racial bias in admissions practices, reflecting a broader concern among Asian American students about equitable treatment in academia. They claim evidence of discriminatory practices against students with similar credentials.
First of all, in addition to Stanley, there are a lot of Asian American students who actually contacted us about their college admissions stories. How they were rejected by UCs, despite their outstanding qualifications, similar to Stanley's.
We have collected evidence that the UC is using race, in clear violation of the law, in faculty hiring. And to the degree that it's not only using it, but they're also knowing it's illegal, and they're hiding the evidence.
