Hilding E. Ronning, affectionately nicknamed Tex, was a beloved teacher and coach in Santa Cruz, remembered for his dedication and impact on students. Inducted into the Santa Cruz High Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018, he coached wrestling for nearly two decades, leading the team to numerous league titles and nurturing many champions. He was also head football coach, athletic director, and a mentor to students across disciplines. Ronning's recent passing at 89 follows a battle with cancer, and a Celebration of Life is planned by his family.
