Nonprofit helps San Francisco high school students celebrate 'screen-free' prom
Briefly

Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco organized a unique 'screen-free' prom, an initiative driven by the nonprofit #HalfTheStory. Founder Larissa May emphasized that their role was to support the students, particularly the student body president who led the effort. By securing administrative approval and utilizing resources like sponsorship from Pinterest, the goal was to foster fun and connection without screens. May highlighted the importance of making 'screen-free' enjoyable for teens to encourage participation.
Our goal is to take the fear out of the digital world and to make 'screen-free' fun. Because, if it's not fun, nobody is going to get behind it, especially kids.
It was actually a senior, who was the student body president, that said he wanted to be one of our teens to pilot this out.
