Without Saint Mary's College as a venue, NCS basketball title game sites are a scramble
Briefly

The North Coast Section (NCS) playoffs are facing scrutiny as scheduling oversights have resulted in championship games being held in less favorable venues, chiefly due to the unavailability of Saint Mary's College. NCS Commissioner Pat Cruickshank noted that while they reach out to Saint Mary's annually, it is not available again this year. Contrastingly, other sections have secured more prestigious venues for their title games. Acalanes and De La Salle, top seeds in their respective brackets, are affected by this issue, resulting in less prestigious playoff venues like Campolindo High.
Saint Mary's is one of the first sites we reach out to every year. They're not specific about why it's not available to us, but it's just not.
Short of that, we have to find a spot that's in the geographic region of the higher seed. That's why games are where they are.
The lone place where a high school hoops junkie can see multiple games championship in a day is Saturday at San Leandro High.
It's unfortunate, Acalanes is the No. 1 seed in the Open girls and De La Salle is No. 1 for the Open boys.
