JJ Smith, S.F. street videographer and provocateur, hit with restraining order
Briefly

Kevin Jones won a restraining order against Omar Ward, who filmed him and made threatening gestures. Ward filmed Jones in Oakland, claiming to have fun, followed by damage to Jones's minivan. The judge ruled that Ward must stay 50 yards away from Jones for two years due to the intimidation involved. Jones expressed relief, feeling freed from Ward's harassment. Ward has received attention and support from conservative figures, yet he faces ongoing conflict with progressives online, leading to this legal action.
"I feel a lot better. I feel like I don't have to be as protective of myself. It feels like a weight is off my shoulders," said Jones, who called Ward a 'serial harasser' for his intimidating online posts about people he disagrees with. "I feel free again."
Ward has also gained support and attention from the likes of conservative figures like Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan, who praised him for 'doing God's work' and gave him $1,000 for hospital bills.
Judge Maria Morga in Oakland called the note 'creepy' and ruled that Ward must remain at least 50 yards away from Jones for two years.
Ward took to X (formerly Twitter), seemingly saying he would disregard the judge's order. 'Can you believe I was just told in court by a judge I broke the law by filming someone in public,' he wrote.
