Wu will receive approximately $311,089 in severance and settlement payments while investigations concerning her performance will be halted, and associated findings destroyed. In her departure statement, Wu acknowledged the honor of serving Cupertino and highlighted her accomplishments. Acting City Manager Tina Kapoor has stepped in while Mayor Liang Chao emphasized the need for stable city operations during leadership transitions. Wu was placed on leave earlier to ensure operational continuity.

In a statement, Wu noted that her decision to leave was not easy but felt it was the right time to start a new chapter, highlighting her pride in her accomplishments.
Mayor Liang Chao expressed confidence in Deputy City Manager Tina Kapoor, stating that leadership transitions, while challenging, are sometimes necessary to ensure stable and responsive operations.
The city also agreed to discontinue investigations into Wu's tenure and destroy any findings, maintaining a degree of confidentiality about the circumstances of her departure.
