Marco Diaz, a man from California, drew widespread condemnation after he was filmed making a Nazi salute from a Cybertruck, while under the influence of alcohol. The footage gained traction on social media, leading to a significant backlash against his company, Cyber Electric, which was visible through a surge of negative Yelp reviews. In response to the outcry, Diaz issued a statement apologizing for his actions while denying any homophobic intent. The incident prompted Cyber Electric to temporarily disable comments on its Yelp page and shut down its social media accounts to mitigate further damage.
"I was intoxicated and reacted foolishly to provocation, but I take full responsibility," reads Diaz's statement to SFGate, addressing his controversial actions during the incident.
"There is no room in Modesto for Nazi businesses," stated a Yelp reviewer, expressing a strong disapproval of Diaz's actions which negatively impacted community sentiment.
"Is this who you want in your home, around your family performing repairs?" questioned another Yelp review, highlighting the widespread backlash against Cyber Electric and its owner.
Diaz denied making any homophobic statements, insisting that "the gesture does not reflect my beliefs, and I'm sorry for the hurt it caused," showcasing his attempt at damage control.
