The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA), established in 1993, functions as a pivotal cultural institution in San Francisco, aiming to enhance community engagement through contemporary art, performance, and civic dialogue. Located in the SOMA neighborhood, YBCA prioritizes accessibility by offering free admission every Wednesday and on the second Sunday of each month. While general admission for other days is set at $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors, YBCA continues to envision a evolving role that art plays in fostering social change and community interaction.
Opened to the public in 1993, YBCA was founded as the cultural anchor of San Francisco's Yerba Buena Gardens neighborhood. Our work spans the realms of contemporary art, performance, film, civic engagement, and public life.
YBCA is reimagining the role an arts institution can play in the community it serves, centering artists as essential to social and cultural movement and engaging with the public through diverse programming.
The main entrance to our galleries and forum event space is at 701 Mission Street, located in the heart of San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood, across from SFMOMA.
Entry to YBCA Galleries is free every Wednesday and on second Sundays, making art accessible to the community, while general admission remains reasonably priced at $10 for adults.
