The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA), founded in 1993, is a cornerstone of San Francisco's cultural landscape, located in the vibrant Yerba Buena Gardens neighborhood. It emphasizes a multifaceted approach to contemporary art, including performance, film, and civic engagement, and seeks to redefine the relationship between arts institutions and the communities they serve. YBCA opens its galleries to the public for free on Wednesdays and during select Sundays, making art accessible to a broad audience while reinforcing its role as a community-oriented space.
Opened to the public in 1993, YBCA was founded as the cultural anchor of San Francisco's Yerba Buena Gardens neighborhood. Our work spans the realms of contemporary art, performance, film, civic engagement, and public life.
YBCA is reimagining the role an arts institution can play in the community it serves, centering artists as essential to social and cultural movement.
Entry to YBCA Galleries is free every Wednesday and on second Sundays. Otherwise, general admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors.
YBCA is located in the heart of San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood, across the street from SFMOMA and the Moscone Convention Center.
