SJFD, Cal Fire halt brushfire near Guadalupe Landfill

A brushfire near the Guadalupe Landfill in Almaden Valley grew to about 15 acres but was mostly contained by crews from the San Jose Fire Department and Cal Fire. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene after the fire ignited just after 3 p.m. and effectively halted its spread with the aid of aerial support by 5:08 p.m. By 7:30 p.m., they reported 70% containment. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any structural damage or injuries, and investigations into the fire's cause are currently ongoing.
Crews from the San Jose Fire Department and Cal Fire have mostly contained a brushfire near the Guadalupe Landfill that grew to approximately 15 acres.
Firefighters responded to the scene on Guadalupe Mines Road in Almaden Valley, just after 3 p.m., when the fire began to spread at a moderate speed.
With the assistance of Cal Fire planes dropping water and retardant, fire department officials reported halting the forward progress by 5:08 p.m.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., officials reported 70% containment of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
