Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle D'Ante Smith is expected to miss the upcoming season with a torn patella tendon. The injury occurred during a joint practice with the Chicago Bears when Smith went down about 10 minutes after running back Chris Evans, who also suffered the same injury. Losing both players significantly impacts the Bengals' offensive line depth, and with rookie Amarius Mims also sidelined, the team faces a challenging season ahead.
With the absence of Smith and Evans, who were key reserve players, Cincinnati's offensive line depth is considerably affected. The rookie Amarius Mims is expected to miss weeks due to a strained pectoral muscle, and veteran Trent Brown had to be replaced during the practice. Coach Zac Taylor indicated that without adequate players, the team would not risk playing starters in the upcoming preseason game against Chicago.
