Player review: Keaton Winn
Briefly

Keaton Winn has shown impressive development in the 2024 MLB season, achieving three quality starts that helped him achieve a balanced record after early-season losses. In April, he showcased strong performances against teams like the Marlins and Mets, highlighting a reliable ground ball rate. While his ERA improved to 3.18, Winn's tendency to give up home runs remained a concern. Following the early season's promising start, injuries struck the Giants, which impacted the overall narrative of the 2024 season, overshadowing some of Winn's progress.
Winn, in his first April in the Majors and the less-lauded of the rookie starting pitchers, appeared just as revelatory as Hicks.
He may have opened the year as a fill-in while the Giants waited for Alex Cobb to return to health, but Winn has now forced the issue, and feels like an immovable piece of the rotation.
His 3.18 ERA was just a scooch higher than Logan Webb's - its main affliction being the tendency of a fly ball to leave the park.
After starting the year with a hat-trick of tough luck 'L's, he strung together three consecutive quality starts.
