Sharks' Vlasic sets NHL shot-blocking record with No. 2,165 in win over Sabres
Briefly

In a remarkable achievement, Marc-Edouard Vlasic of the San Jose Sharks broke Mark Giordano's record for career blocked shots, reaching a total of 2,166 during a 6-2 victory against the Buffalo Sabres. The veteran defenseman, honored as the player of the game with a thick black vest, showcased his defensive skill by blocking two shots in his 1,308th game with the Sharks. His teammates celebrated the milestone, reflecting on his dedication to defense as he continues to make significant contributions despite earlier injuries.
"He knows how to play the position, puts his body in the lanes, blocked big shots his whole career. You guys have seen it," coach Ryan Warsofsky said.
"When it's your turn to block, you block it," Vlasic said. "I'll step in front of any puck I need to to make sure it doesn't get through."
